27th
7am. Bieber Fever time.
His Orchestra - Antartica

For our last training ride before the big one, 7 of us (2 Schleppers, 5 Schlepper supporters), took a relatively short 55 miler ride from Port Jefferson to Southold, NY stopping by A Pizza Pie, Briermere Farms, Paumanok Vineyards and Pindar Vineyards for some wine tasting (and downing) en route. The stages of Tour de Fork consisted of shopping, climbing, biking, drinking, eating, more drinking and more eating.
Route:
Cast:
- Danny: “I called the Jitney to see if they were going to breast feed my Cervelo on the ride back” [Negative, so he brought the Pista]
- Jess: “Ms. I have gears”
- Karen: “Fixed friendly” [FALSE]
- Paolo: “20mph is not casual”
- Christine: “Ms. Sun Burnt Flip Flops”
- Jordan: “Which town are we in?” [Port Jefferson]
- Dave: “Sprinter”
Highlights:
- Don’t forget shoes when you go biking.
- Long Island with the exception of Montauk is NOT 48-16 fixed friendly (you would have thought I would have learned this by now after last year’s disastrous Mansions ride).
- CO2 virgins have been enlightened.
- Too much pizza = food coma for hills post lunch. Rookies.
- Do not let lightweight Paolo drink and bike.
- Sit in the back of the Jitney bus so you can double dip.
- It is very difficult to stone face while Jitney guy is printing out receipts.
